Ghana-bound Eddie Nketiah scores brace as Arsenal demolish Chelsea in six-goal thriller
Eddie Nketiah scored twice as Arsenal boosted their chances of qualifying for the Champions League with a thrilling victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old scored at the start of each half as the Gunners ended a run of three successive Premier League defeats.
Emile Smith Rowe was also on target as Arsenal twice led in the first half only for Timo Werner and Cesar Azpilicueta to level soon after for Chelsea.
Bukayo Saka put the seal on the victory with a penalty in added time after he been brought down by Azpilicueta.
Nketiah was replaced by Gabriel Martinelli after enjoying 70 minutes of the game action at the Stamford Bridge.
He has now scored seven goals and provided an assist in his 21 game outings for Arsenal this season so far.
Arsenal stay fifth despite the win but are now level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham while Chelsea are five points better off in third.
Nketiah dominated the headlines this week following his interview about weighing up international allegiance to play Ghana ahead of England.
The 22-year-old centre-forward, who’s eligible to represent Ghana at the senior national through his Ghanaian parents, said that his doors are opened for either England or Ghana.
It is believed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced talks with the Arsenal young striker over a possible nationality switch ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
