Comoros Beats Black Stars in 2021 AFCON, Sends Ghana Parking
Comoros beats the Black Stars in 2021 AFCON, sends Ghana parking after a 3-2 defeat in the last group game for the black stars.
The Black Stars of Ghana have been well beaten by first-timers Comoros in their last group match at the ongoing AFCON 2021. The do-or-die attempt by Ghana in their final group C match ended up in misery.
The four-time African champions who won their last AFCON trophy in 1982 were not good enough to beat Comoros. Ghana failed to win a match at the ongoing AFCON and only picked a point from their game against Gabon. Everyone expected them to win against Comoros and to qualify for the round of 16 alas it was never to be.
When the new manager of the Black Stars, Milovan Rajevach took over for the second time, the current GFA president, Mr Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said Milo was a trophy-winning coach. Sadly, not so much has changed since C.K Akonor was sacked for poor performance. The Ghanaian team lacks depth and quality with all the stars it currently has.
The Comoros men’s senior national team sting Ghana in the 4th minute to unsettle the Black Stars of Ghana who have been a pale shadow of themselves. The game ended 3-2 in favour of Comoros who played a determined 10 men Ghanaian side as the captain of the Black stars was given an early shower in the 25th minutes.
Back in Ghana, many citizens of the 31 million Ghanaians did not expect the team to win the final game and to proceed beyond the quarter-finals as a result of the team’s poor outing in the AFCON 2021 being held in Cameroon.
The team placed fourth in the group with just a point and is heading out of the tournament. The Black Stars have to wait another 2 years to try to annex the AFCON cup which has eluded Ghana for nearly 40 years. The team did not play like a unit that was in the tournament to win it.
With the World Cup playoffs coming up soon, Ghana may not qualify for the World Football Mundai if the team goes into the world cup playoffs with the same attitude and strategies that are not working currently.
Comoros pushed Ghana out of the nation’s cup with good football and managed to surprise the Ghanaian team. The Ghanaian team was chasing the game all through. Indeed today has been a horrible day for Ghana football.
The Ghanaian team did not play like a team getting ready to take on the world at the world cup. The support base of the team back home in Ghana has dwindled over since the Brazil 2014 world cup.
The Black Stars will have to play like a world-class team to even stand the chance of crossing the play-off phase with victory. Anything shot of dedication, 101 percent performance, and good team management by the manager and his charges will see Ghana lose the world cup playoff.
