Black Stars weren’t good enough, Jordan Ayew admits after AFCON 2021 exit handed down by a determined Comoros.
Black Stars striker, Jordan Ayew in a post-match interview admitted that the Ghanaian national team wasn’t good enough. The team lost its first match against Morocco in the last seven minutes, conceded a Gabon equalizer in the last few minutes of their second match, and were given a match of their lives by Comoros in their final group game to end the dream of annexing the African Cup of Nations after a 40 years drought.
After Jordan Ayew’s sincere admission of the team’s poor performance, he called on all players and the technical teams to learn from the failure of the Black stars.
Jordan was part of a blunt Ghana goal poaching strikers that only scored one goal in their first two games of the competition against Morocco and Gabon.
The 10-man Black Stars team did manage to score twice and game from behind to a 2-2 drawn game fifteen minutes to the end of the game. When everyone expected them to score the winning goal final embers of the match against Comoros, the defense let in another goal which sealed victory for the minos leading to the unfortunate fate and exit of the team from the AFCON 2021.
Speaking after the game, Jordan Ayew, who leaves Cameroon without a single goal said the group stage exit was a wake-up call for the young squad and an experience they must learn from.

“We were not good enough, we have a young squad, it’s a wake-up call for everyone and if we don’t learn from this then I don’t know,” he said.
