FIFA World Cup playoff: Nigeria forward Osimhen bags a brace in Napoli comeback win over Udenese, leaves for camp
Ahead of their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Ghana next Friday, Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has announced himself once more as one of the players to watch in the tie against the Black Stars, after he scored twice to help the Sierie A giants come from behind to beat Udinese 2-1 on Saturday.
The Nigeria forward stole the headlines on Saturday afternoon with two goals against Udinese, scoring in the 52nd and 63rd minutes to help his side cancel their opponents’ 22nd minute opener through Gerard Deulofeu. Osimhen’s goals has now pushed Napoli to close in the gap between themselves and Serie A leaders AC Milan, sitting second with 63 points, 3 points behind the leaders.
He has now scored four goals in his last two games and has now scored 10+ league goals in each of the last three seasons.
He joins George Weah, Samuel Eto’o and Mohamed Salah as just the fourth African footballer to reach 10+ goals in back-to-back seasons in Serie A.
The 23-year former Lille forward immediately took off to Nigeria, where he will join his international teammates in the Super Eagles camp for their crucial 2022 World Cup playoffs against Ghana.
Ghana will host Nigeria for the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Friday, March 25,2022 at 7:30pm local time.
