Why Eto’o’s Action In Qatar Is Damaging To Africa’s Reputation In Football
Samuel Eto’o is in the news today for all the wrong reasons because of something that happened after Brazil and South Korea played in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
A video of the former Cameroon striker beating up a young man who was filming him has since been shared online.
Eto’o is the president of the Cameroonian football federation, and the young man asked him about bribery and corruption scandals surrounding a world cup qualification match, according to reports.
No matter what the young man said, beating someone up on a big stage like the World Cup doesn’t say much good about Eto’o or Africa as a whole.
Eto’o was a top player in Africa, and that is still true, even though he is now in charge of running things. If the question was about bribery and corruption, as people think, it would have been better to use that chance to set the record straight.
Eto’o is one of the best African football players and one of the people who represent African football at the World Cup. When you act like that in public, it doesn’t say anything good about Africa at all.
