I was a little bit surprised – Genk midfielder Elisha Owusu on first Ghana call-up

Elisha Owusu, a midfielder for Gent, says he was shocked when he got his first Black Stars call-up.
The 25-year-old was put on coach Otto Addo’s team for the final 2022 World Cup play-off against Nigeria in March.
Owusu made his debut for the Black Stars in the second half of the return leg.
The Black Stars held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to qualify for the global showpiece on the away goals rule after the first leg in Kumasi ended 0-0.
“I was a little surprised because it was such a big game. I had been on the team before, so when I was asked to play in those two games, I was like, “Wow, that’s huge,” he told Star Connect.
“I was glad and proud of myself. My family was very happy for me.”
“That’s the kind of game you want to play as a player,” he said.
“I think every player wants to play a game with this much pressure and difficulty, a game that can change a lot about their career.
“I was happy to be there and eager to do my best. If you were on the team, you were on the team that got Ghana into the World Cup, which is pretty cool. It’s the past.”
