Ghana’s awful AFCON massive boost for Arsenal and Thomas Partey

The end result of the Ghana v Comoros at the AFCON will go down as one of the 2021 AFCON upsets but the result is a big boost for Arsenal, who could even potentially have Thomas Partey back for the Burnley game.

The Black Stars needed to win the game to stand any chance of progression from Group C, but despite a late rally, fell to their second defeat of the tournament at the Roumde Adjia Stadium.

Ghana’s low-key performance at the AFCON 2021 is a blessing for the English club as Partey will be returning to the premiership earlier than anticipated.

Partey could potentially be back without missing a Premier League game. Partey and the Black Stars failed to impress at the AFCON after losing two games and drawing one. This performance by Ghana is the lowest at the AFCON since 2006.

Every Ghanaian was expecting a big night for Thomas Partey as Ghana look to keep their AFCON hopes alive and book their spot in the knockout rounds. However, a determined and disciplined Comoros did the necessary damage to the Ghanaian team on the night.
