“I don’t want to fake downplay it like it’s nothing,” Lillard remarked. “I know it’s a big deal. It’s a great accomplishment. It’s a rare space to be in.”
Coach Griffin: Lillard has no offensive weaknesses
The 33-year-old increased his career point total to 20,034, making him the eighth active player to achieve this milestone.
Lillard accomplished this in his 794th career game, making him the 17th-fastest player to reach 20,000 points.
“When you look at Dame, obviously he can shoot the ball,” said Bucks coach Adrian Griffin. “He can stretch the floor. He just puts a lot of pressure on your defense. If you bring your bigs up, he can drive around them. He’s strong enough and physical enough to finish at the rim. He just has no weaknesses on the offensive end.”
Lillard’s illustrious career includes spending 11 years with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he earned multiple accolades such as the 2013 Rookie of the Year, seven-time All-NBA selection, and a place on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
