Cristiano Ronaldo captain arm band raises 64,000 euros
Cristiano Ronaldo showed his frustration at a refereeing mistake which saw his Portugal goal disallowed against Serbia in Belgrade.
Due to this, Cristiano Ronaldo showed how furious he was at the end of the match by throwing his captain’s armband to the floor.
The armband has since raised 64,000 euros.
A local firefighter, Djordje Vukicevic, picked up the arm band in the Serbian stadium, the arm band was auctioned by the ‘‘Together for life Charity” and has raised money which will be used to fund the treatment of a six-month old Serbian boy who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy.
“The charitable auction for Cristiano Ronaldo’s armband just ended at the brilliant figure of 7.5 million dinars,” Jovan Simic, the founder of the ‘Together for Life’ charity, explained on Twitter.

Due to the absence of VAR and goal line technology, Ronaldo’s shot which appeared to have crossed the line was not given. This mistake saw Ronaldo throwing his armband to the ground.
