2022 World Cup: Reason why Callum Hudson-Odoi turned down chance to be in Qatar with Ghana revealed
Callum Hudson-Odoi, a forward for Chelsea, will not play for any country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, even though he could play for either England or Ghana.
Reports say that the talented young player has talked with Ghanaian officials about the possibility of switching his allegiance and playing for the Black Stars.
But, according to people who know him well, the player, who is currently on loan at the German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, has decided not to play for Ghana right now.
Even though he knows that if he had said yes to Ghana, he would have been on the Black Stars’ world cup team, he is thought to have chosen to keep his options open with the England team.
The forward thinks he still has a good chance of being a key player for England and wants to be open about it.
Even though England head coach Gareth Southgate didn’t pick him for the world cup this year, Callum Hudson-Odoi is sure that he will do well enough at Bayer Leverkusen this season to earn a spot in the England team for the next games after the world cup.
The 22-year-old is happy to stay home and watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
