World Cup 2022: How Morocco’s 2-0 Win Against Belgium Brightens Their Hope of Group Qualification
Morocco beat Belgium 2-0 in their second group game at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which was played on Sunday.
This was a big surprise, and it helped Morocco’s chances of getting out of the group stage.
At the end of the first half, neither team had scored, so the score was 0-0. But the back and forth kept going in the second half, and in the 73rd minute, Morocco scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead.
In extra time, the North Africans doubled their lead, making the final score 2-0. This could be seen as the third big surprise of the tournament, after Saudi Arabia beat Argentina and Japan surprised Germany.
Morocco, who tied with Croatia in their first game, is now in a good position to make it out of Group F. All they would have to do is beat Canada in their last group game.
Canada looks like the crying boy of the group after losing to Belgium and Croatia in their first two group matches. If Morocco beats them in their last group match, they will move on to the next round regardless of how Belgium and Croatia do in their match.
Canada was already out of the tournament after their second loss to Croatia on Sunday. They would only be playing for pride in their last group match against Morocco, which Morocco would need to win to move on to the round of 16.
