Asante Kotoko reportedly reach agreement to sign former Arsenal star Emmanuel Adebayor
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are in advanced talks to sign ex-Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor for their 2022/23 season
The 37-year-old luminary striker, who has been unattached since July 2020 after his contract with Paraguayan side was terminated by mutual consent.
Adebayor has reportedly agreed to join the two-time CAF Champions League title holders on a short-term contract to revival his football career to secure a lucrative deal in Europe or Asia.
The Ghana Premier League has recently attracted high-profiled footballers such as Asamoah Gyan who joined Legon Cities last season and Sulley Ali Muntari who has signed a one-year contract with Hearts of Oak this term.
The lanky striker featured for several top-tier clubs in Europe such as Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Kayserispor, İstanbul Başakşehir, AS Monaco and Metz.
Adebayor opted to represent Togo at senior level despite his eligibility to play for Nigeria at the senior level.
He capped 85 times for the Togolese national team and managed scored 32 goals.
The former Arsenal star was named Africa Footballer of the Year in 2008.
