New York Knicks’ Derrick Rose Says Covid Was 10 Times Worse Than Flu
Derrick Rose has been off the pitch since last February for the Knicks. According to him, many have overlooked the coronavirus however, it’s a serious issue.
“The Covid thing, I know a lot of people overlook it but it’s very serious. It’s real” he disclosed to reporters.
In his statement he disclosed he contracted coronavirus; he said Covid-19 was ten times worse than flu ahead of his return to the field for the New York Knicks on Monday.
Derrick Rose, the 2010-11 MVP has been off the field since February 28 due to health issues.

While he was receiving treatment, the team provide just brief details about his absence however, Rose now 32 has confirmed the health issue he was battling with all this while.
“I’ve had the flu. It’s nothing like the flu. … It was that times 10.” he kept repeating.
Before his forced off-the-field break by Covid-19, Rose was making on average 12.5 points and 4.9 assists in every 10 games (three starts) with the team.
He joined the New York from Detroit Pistons last month. His exit from the health and safety protocol was good news for the team but he needed time to gain his strength and fitness level before he can engage in full competition.
“He has to go through conditioning and once he’s ready to go we’ll move forward with it. But he’s been out for a while now so he’s just starting to ramp it up again and we’ll see how it goes,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said.
On March 2nd he failed to play at San Antonio, was ill a day after, and could not engage in any exercise while in quarantine at home.
Currently, the Knicks are 7th in the Eastern Conference standings. They have also attained 7-3 whenever Rose plays. The team won its final three games at the time he was part of the starting line of the team.
“Getting back and playing in rhythm and trying to get myself back to where I was is going to take some time,” Rose said. “But every day I’m getting the most out of all my days so that’s all I can do.”

A careful look at his statistics in the 2008 NBA Draft shows he has achieved on average 18.6 points and 5.5 assists in 621 career games (507 starts) whiles playing for Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Pistons, and Knicks.
