Man Utd Transfer News, Rumours and Gossip: ‘Man Utd hold talks over late Toney deal’
Manchester United have held initial talks over a late deal for Ivan Toney, according to the London Evening Standard.
It is claimed, however, that securing a move to Chelsea remains the Brentford striker’s priority ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Sky Sports News exclusively reported on Tuesday that Chelsea had made a move for the 28-year-old.
But the Blues will reportedly face competition from Man Utd for the England international’s signature following preliminary conversations between Man Utd and Brentford over a potential deal.
It is claimed negotiations are not yet at a serious stage and United are yet to make a formal offer, but Brentford are hopeful that any interest could drive a bidding war with Chelsea that would see them secure around £40m for Toney.
Burnley sign Hannibal from Man Utd in £9.4m deal
Burnley have signed Hannibal Mejbri from Man Utd in a £9.4m deal.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder spent last season on loan with La Liga side Sevilla and has become Scott Parker’s eighth summer signing.
Burnley will pay Manchester United an initial £5.4m, plus £4m in performance-related add-ons.
There is a significant sell-on clause included, initially 50 per cent.
A buy-back clause and matching rights are also included in the deal.

Mejbri, who has signed a four-year deal at Turf Moor, said: “I’m very excited. Very happy to be here and I can’t wait to see the fans. I have played against Burnley before at Turf Moor and the atmosphere was amazing.
“After speaking to the coach [Scott Parker] the project sounded good to me and hopefully we can make it successful.”
The Frenchman played 13 times for Man Utd, scoring once.
Ugarte in the UK for Man Utd medical as McTominay flies to Italy to seal Napoli’s move
Manuel Ugarte is in the UK and will have his Manchester United medical today ahead of his £50.7m (€60m) move from Paris Saint-Germain.
United will pay £42.2m (€50m) up front plus £8.5m (€10m) in performance-related add-ons for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Ugarte’s arrival will see Scott McTominay exit the club with the Scotland international to fly to Italy today for a medical with Napoli.
All aspects of the deal – including exit terms from Man Utd and contractual details – are now agreed.
The fee is worth £25.3m (€30m) including performance-related add-ons.
Chelsea and Man Utd discuss Sterling and Sancho’s moves
Chelsea and Manchester United are in talks over two separate deals for Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling.
The possibility of Sancho signing for Chelsea and Sterling joining United is now being seriously considered.
If Sancho were to go, United are not under any pressure to replace him as they are well-stocked in the forward areas. Any deal for Sterling would have to make financial sense for United given the wages involved.
Le Tissier named the new women’s captain
Maya Le Tissier has been named as the new captain of Man Utd Women.
The 22-year-old defender replaces Katie Zelem, who left the club this summer.
She said: “It’s an honour to be named captain of this great football club and I will wear the armband with real pride, to help drive this team to success on and off the field.”
SG is very happy with the Ugarte deal which includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause
Paris Saint-Germain are very happy with the £50.7m deal for Manuel Ugarte to join Manchester United.
The French champions have got everything they wanted and have made a small profit on what they paid Sporting Lisbon last summer.
Man Utd started at £29.6m (€35m) and then wanted a loan, but PSG held firm and got what they wanted all along which was an immediate sale at the right place, including a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
PSG have a packed midfield of emerging players. Head coach Luis Enrique has options including Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha, while the club also signed Joao Neves from Benfica in a £50m deal this month.
The Ligue 1 club believe Ugarte is an extremely good player but he would have struggled to play regularly if he had stayed.
McTominay finalising Man Utd exit terms ahead of £25.4m move to Napoli
Scott McTominay is close to finalising exit terms with Manchester United ahead of his move to Napoli.
The clubs have agreed to a £25.4m (€30m) deal and personal terms have been agreed in principle.
Once the exit terms are signed off, the Scotland international is expected to fly to Italy for a medical.
United are reluctant to lose the 27-year-old but he wanted regular first-team football.
Furthermore, the Man Utd academy graduate’s potential sale represents pure profit.
